Planning for Pregnancy

Are you planning to have a baby? Here are some tips for planning for pregnancy:

  • If you are on birth control, go off of it.
  • Start adopting a healthy lifestyle (if you haven’t already).
  • Know your most fertile days.
  • Make a plan and take action.

Baby Birth

A baby can be born either by vaginal delivery or a Caesarean section. Vaginal birth is the more common form of delivery.

There are three stages of labour: First, the shortening and opening of the cervix; second, descent and birth of the baby; and third, the delivery of the placenta.

A pregnant woman should know about the signs of labour so that she identifies when she goes into labour.

Caesarean sections are usually recommended if there are signs of a distressed baby, complications in pregnancy or in a case where the mother is pregnant with more than one baby.

Your First Scan

Your first ever scan is likely to be at 6 weeks. If you find out about your pregnancy soon enough, you will have your scan at 6 weeks. If you find out a bit late, you are likely to have a scan around 8 or 9 weeks.

This scan:

  • Determines your due date.
  • Checks whether you are having one or more babies.
  • Checks baby’s development.

Baby Care

If you are a new parent, you might find taking care of your new born a little overwhelming at first. But don’t worry as you will take it all in your stride pretty soon.

Learn that your little baby is a bit fragile and needs constant care. All you need to have is some patience and it’ll all be fine!

Pregnancy is the most beautiful and memorable journey in every woman’s life. So make sure that you enjoy every step on the way of this journey; since you are bound to look back on it with a smile.

Feeding Baby

It is recommended that you breastfeed your new born baby for at least the first 6 months. Breast milk is the best food for a baby. Your baby may need feeds every 2 to 3 hours in the first few weeks of his/ her life. Baby’s feed cycles will decrease as it grows up. Even though you might feel uncomfortable at first, you will soon get used to it.

If you have any doubts regarding feeding a baby, you can schedule a consultation and talk to us.
